GREEN BAY – Innovative furniture solutions designed for a wide range of customers, supported by vertical market knowledge and experience, led to a successful NeoCon 2008 for KI.
“Our NeoCon showroom reflected KI’s commitment to offering clean, simply designed furniture that makes it easy for interior designers and facility managers to create unique spaces with KI furniture across multiple markets,” said Shawn Green, vice president of product management, KI. “The universal nature of our furniture, combined with our approach to developing solutions based on market needs and trends, was well received by attendees.”
The Arissa® and Strive® Collections were among the most popular new products in KI’s showroom. Both collections exemplify KI’s approach to providing breakthrough furniture with applications for a broad set of customers.
As the industry’s first universal seating collection, the Arissa Collection eliminates the need to specify a percentage of bariatric seating and standard seating by accommodating all body types equally well. A family of lobby and lounge seating that encompasses graceful, sophisticated design, the Arissa Collection accommodates the functional and comfort needs of virtually any body type, including the obese.
“Arissa represents a well thought out, forward thinking collection on several levels,” said Aneetha McLellan, director of interior architecture, HDR Architecture, Inc. “The breadth of the collection allows interior designers to create a signature healthcare space, while its universal design addresses the psychosocial implications of developing furniture for bariatric patients. KI’s Strive Seating Collection, the latest innovation in “flex-back” seating, emphasizes simplicity, comfort and affordability. The Strive Collection, which includes stack chairs, task chairs, café and task stools, and fixed seating, offers the comfort of an articulating chair to the widest possible audience. Designed by Giancarlo Piretti, Strive features a simple, stylish design based on a small number of components.
“We heard over and over from people who tried the seating that they couldn’t believe the price point was just $150.00,” said Green. “The Strive Collection makes ultra comfortable, ergonomic task seating affordable for organizations of all types and sizes.”
Other solutions attracting significant attention from attendees included Genius® architectural walls, the Soltíce® Collection and the introduction of Intellect® Wave classroom furniture. In addition to new furniture, two white papers—on the evolving role of college libraries and design considerations for bariatric furniture—debuted at KI’s NeoCon showroom.
